If you answered yes to my title's question, then sisters, I, and my kindred sisters who answered no, need your help.In actuality, I am betting that most of my "sisters" aren't domestic goddesses and, like me, have a Martha Stewart or Julia Child cookbook tucked back in the deepest corner of their pantry-one that was stuffed there long ago with the hopes that someday, when we had watched enough episodes of their ever popular TV shows and, having found out the definitions of all those foreign ingredients listed, would dig it out and successfully execute one of the recipes.
Actually, I dug mine out yesterday and staring into the ever gleaming smile of Martha Stewart-I could have sworn it was mocking me- remembered the day that I received my first and only Martha Stewart cookbook as a birthday gift. After tearing maddeningly through the tissue paper in the gift bag, in anticipation of some thoughtfully and tastefully selected gift of jewelry or clothing which would reflect my true personality, I stood speechless as I stared into the eyes of Martha Stewart. The book was heavy and thick.
"Oh my!" I exclaimed, "you shouldn't have!"
Trying to deceive the giver into thinking I was happy and grateful for the gift, I started flipping randomly through the book to see if I recognized any of the recipes. NOPE. The pictures were lovely indeed, but in all their lovliness, they screamed out to me:
"You can never accomplish these great and delicious recipes! You just don't have that Martha Stewart gene!"
I pretended to be in awe of the book, but as soon as my gift giver left, I slammed the book on the counter and screamed,
"What was she thinking?"
Promptly, I shoved the blasted book into the corner of my pantry, never to be opened again, until today. I pulled it out to get a good laugh. I am no Martha Stewart and really have no desire to be. So, my sisters, this blog is to find and post ways to simplify our life of domesticity. Be it recipes, laundry short cuts, organization, bill paying, etc. If I find a simple way to do something, I will share it with you and hope you will share as well! Let's take back our lives and do it the Sandy Simple way-if there is such a way, I am on the quest to find it!
